Swim Lessons

At the Dr. Tommy Macdonnell Aquatic Center, 1490 N. Elm, our swim lessons build skills, confidence and determination while learning how to be safe in the water. Swim Lessons are available throughout the summer for youth 6 months to 10 years old. 

Levels

Lil SwimmersLil' Swimmer

6mo-3 yrs (Parent and Child)

  • Water Comfort
  • Building muscle memory for beginner skills
  • Parents will be in the water with their children

**Please note Lil' Swimmer classes are only offered on select sessions and times

Beginner 4 to 6 Beginner

Age 4-6 yrs

  • Body positioning in the water
  • Floating
  • Breath control
  • Gliding and beginning strokes

Beginner 7 to 10 Beginner

Age 7-10 yrs

  • Body positioning in the water
  • Floating
  • Breath control
  • Gliding and beginning strokes

Age 5-10 yrs

  • Swim independently for 10 feet or more
  • Can come up for breath unassisted
  • Stroke development
  • Endurance
  • Rotary breathing 
  • Treading water
  • Introduction to diving

Intermediate

Upper Intermediate

Age 5-10 yrs

  • Refining strokes introduced in the intermediate level
  • Increase in speed and endurance 
  • Starting off the blocks

**Please note Upper Intermediate classes are only offered in Session 4 on select times

Individual Fee: $45 resident, $50 non-resident (outside of city limits of Marshfield)

Session Times: 6:15pm-6:45pm & 6:55pm-7:25pm
Levels: Beginner 4-6, Beginner 7-10, Intermediate **(There are no Lil' Swimmer classes in this session)

Weather Policy

The Parks Department may cancel, delay or postpone lessons due to inclement weather and/or thunder and lightning.  Notification will be made at least 1 hour prior to lessons. A post will be made on marshfieldparks.org following notification through the Remind App.  The make-up date will be communicated through the Remind App and email.
